rubbing strake end cap.

Postby Jeremyfisher » Fri Jun 21, 2019 3:37 pm

I lost one of the end caps to the rubbing strake at the weekend. Could not find a suitable replacement anywhere, shops or internet, so I decided to make one.
I first tried to mould one. I took one off the other side and set it in a tub of putty, and having removed it, I then filled the mould with epoxy resin. The result was a good match but not perfect as I found it impossible to get a perfectly smooth finish on the putty, so the finished article looked a bit wrinkled. I then decided to make one out of wood, using my sanding table to get the shape. Perfect finish.

A good project!!
